I don't come here often but when I do I always enjoy myself. The food is great and plentiful just be aware that you'll need to "preorder" your meats in advance... not doing so can result in a lengthy wait. This place is on the "trendy" side with modern decor and dim lighting. It's great for groups and gatherings. Give them a try, you won't be disappointed.
Been here for lunch and dinner special it's suck a great value for what you can get, the revamped menu with appetizers included is awesome. The restaurant is pretty big but could use a couple more lights because it's a lil dark at night but overall great KBBQ. The service is hit or miss I with it had a way to call over a waiter like a light switch or something how other places have because the times in between ordering is sometimes kinda high.
Went here for lunch as I was craving pork bulgogi and it didn't disappoint. The meats were exceptionally well-marinated. Ofc the standout for me was the spicy pork bulgogi, which was perfectly seasoned and delicious. Also the second fav was fish katsu. Additionally, we tried the Hawaiian bacon, spicy pork riblets, kfc chicken, deep fried mandu. Overall, the quality of the food was top-notch. The sides were all delicious. The only thing I wouldn't try again was the Hotteok which is Korean sweet pancake, just personal preference. Also the drink I ordered was meh so maybe would order something else next time! It didn't satisfy my sweet tooth. But yea definitely will go again whenever I'm craving Korean BBQ!
This place was absolutely great, we arrived on a busy Friday night and there was a line of people waiting so I assumed it would be good. We got seated fairly quickly and set up at our station with our sever arriving shortly after that super nice and friendly. The place was really big, blue lights on the tall sealing, gave it a really cool futuristic effect, the lights were dimmed but bright in the center of each cooking station. The menu had a LOT of options, and I even asked our waiter for some recommendations. Everything we ordered was absolutely delish. Several waiters came to our table to clean the pots and I was surprised how many times they we switch us the pans and stuff so it made me very happy because they kept it clean for us to continue using and the staff in general seemed to work very well in teams to make sure we were very well taken care of. They also had a huge drink menu with lots of fun things and even some non-alcoholic stuff which always is a win for me. I enjoyed the ambient, the food and staff, the prices were reasonable but honestly, even if it was pricey, it would be worth every penny. Will deff be adding this to one of my fav Korean BBQ places.
You can't go wrong with AYCE Korean BBQ! The lunch menu is reasonable and for $19.99. That's a great price for a nice selection of meat such as brisket, steak, pork belly, chicken, etc. The service was great and wait time for the meats and all other items were reasonable. We love to get the soondobu and chap chae with the variety of meats. We always ask for the salad and extra side dishes. Overall, we are happy to find Gen in the area! Gen is located in the same shopping center as 99 Ranch Market, Kung Fu Tea, Daiso and Somisomi.
Pic of the booths and video of cooking the meat. Food is still great but they've gotten so popular that it's ALWAYS packed. Popular dinner times end up being 1-2 hour wait.
We were craving Korean BBQ and had planned to go to Gyu Kaku or another location but picked this one because of the Somisomi next door. It's in a huge complex with tons of other asian staples like 85 degree bakery, 99 Ranch, Somisomi and other milk tea and bingsu places. We put our name down with the guy working the tablet out front and headed over to the supermarket to play some claw machine games and browse while waiting for a table. We were seated on time and our waiter Daniel was super attentive! Every time a plate was empty it was picked up immediately and he would always come and ask if we needed anything else. The food at this location is on par with other Gen locations but the service is much better than other places I've been! My new favorite meat is the beef bully and kalbi. The premium steak was fine but came a bit too frozen for our liking and lacked any seasoning. We only had beef this time around and left super full! The lychee soju carafe we got was great too and the sides were delicious as always. My only complaint is that they seated us near the employee entrance and exit and every time someone would open the door there would be a super cold draft. Overall it's very reasonably priced and it does get pretty loud in there so not the best place for conversations and you will leave super smoky smelling but that's just part of the experience!
So we were in town for a meeting and my wife suggested this place. I must admit that I was a bit hesitant but agreed to go - I am very glad! So they have a single dinner price - it's sort of like an all-you-can-eat buffet, except that you order whatever you want from the menu and they bring it to your table. The appetizers came already prepared. The proteins that you order are brought to the table uncooked with onions. In the center of the table is a Korean bbq on which you cook your protein. There were many sauces that were brought to the table along with pickled cucumber, kimchi, Korean potato salad, pickled radish, and pickled onions. For appetizers we had two servings of deep fried Mandu - each serving has 6 pieces and they were very good, flavorful and prepared perfectly. We also tried a few pork riblets which were also wonderful - they were grilled in a honey bbq type glaze and were also great. Finally, we tried the Jap Chae which was also very good. There were about 6 other appetizers we could have tried that all looked great but we needed to save room for the main course. We started off with Beef Bulgogi and Spicy Pork Bulgogi. They were both full of flavor. I preferred the pork and my wife preferred the beef - but again, both were great! We also tried the Honey Soy Beef Belly which was quite tasty, especially when dipped in the honey type sauce (I don't know exactly what it was). Finally we tried the Chadol (Angus brisket sliced paper thin) which was good, but our least favorite of everything. There are 25 different proteins to choose from - have all of them or some of them! The rice was exactly like I prefer it - a bit sticky. Our server was wonderful. Since we had never been here, she explained how everything worked and made some recommendations - which were spot on. When a plate was empty it was whisked away. When a protein was cooked, the metal grill liner was immediately replaced with a clean one. Service was phenomenal. If there is one drawback, it's that because there is seating for probably 100 tables, it was fairly noisy - but they tell you that upfront, so I can't really complain. We will definitely come back when we're in town and are looking forward to the opening of the San Antonio location this year!
